Governor Jerry Brown c/o State Capitol, Suite 1173 Sacramento, CA 95814 Dear Governor Brown I strongly oppose the proposed moratorium on Suction Dredging. This industry has already suffered a baseless 2-year moratorium. Your own Department of Fish and Game study again proves that suction dredging does not harm fish or anything else. The previous 1994 study had the same results. This moratorium is nothing but pandering to the extreme environmentalists. The science did not go their way, so now they are trying to claim financial hardships when it is already known that more money is taken in through permit fees than is spent on enforcement. The current 2-year moratorium has already hurt rural communities where suction dredging takes place, including the livelihood of many that depend on it. California is beyond broke and has the highest unemployment in the nation. This moratorium is killing jobs and revenue that would normally come to the state from around the country. This hurts the rural communities the hardest. Please do the right thing and allow Fish & Game to complete the ongoing Administrative process, which is nearly finished. We have a whole industry, which depends upon being treated fairly by our government! Sincerely, Your Name Here Your Town, CA
